July 2009: Anthony Brocato - Aunt Lynn and Uncle Tony's son loses his long battle with cancer.

Anthony J. Brocato Jr., 61, of Gainesville passed peacefully Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia.

Anthony was born June 15, 1948, in Baltimore, a son of the late Anthony J. Brocato Sr. and Kathlyn M. Delargy Brocato.

He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Gainesville and a graduate of Calvert Hall College and the University of Maryland College Park, where he played football and was a member of TKE fraternity. He had a successful career with Pepsi Cola Bottling Co. for more than 30 years. Anthony loved sailing in the Caribbean and entertaining family and friends.

Survivors include his loving wife, Shawn Brocato; one son, Victor Brocato of St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands; one daughter, Melissa Brocato of Baltimore; one sister, Kathlyn Brocato; one brother, Joseph Brocato and wife, Diane; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Eileen Norris Brocato.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Cancer Treatment Centers of America, 1331 E. Wyoming Ave., Philadelphia, Pa., 19124 in memory of Anthony J. Brocato Jr.
